Write down the job

Name the activity, space and budget the equipment must fit. List essential requirements before browsing. This makes it easier to distinguish a useful feature from one that looks impressive but does not solve your problem.

Use the same columns

Compare dimensions, adjustment or load range, setup requirements, storage, delivery, return terms and local support. Record the source and date for each specification. If a value is missing, mark it unknown rather than filling it with an estimate.

Separate claims from evidence

A retailer specification, independent test and owner comment are different types of evidence. Look for testing methods, exact model names and disclosed sponsorships. A star rating alone does not explain long-term reliability or suitability for your room.

Make the decision repeatable

Choose a few suitable candidates and note why you would pick each one. Calculate the total purchase cost in your local market. If none meets the essential requirements, wait or change the plan. You do not have to buy something simply because a sale is ending.

Take this with you

Your checklist

  • Define essential requirements first
  • Record comparable specifications and sources
  • Keep unknown values visibly unknown
  • Compare total cost and local support
